Mavs alternating
Dallas has alternated wins and losses over its last six games and the Mavs are coming off a 109-103 loss at home to Boston on Wednesday night. The Mavericks are 18-9 on the season, 10-2 on the road, 16-11 against the spread and 18-9 with the over.
The Mavericks are putting up 117.6 points per game on offense this season while shooting 46.4 percent as a team. Defensively, Dallas is giving up 109.2 points per game while holding opponents to 44.3 percent shooting. Luka Doncic has missed the last two games with an ankle injury and is out tonight. He averages 29.3 points, 9.6 rebounds and 8.9 assists per contest. Kristaps Porzingis is putting up 17.4 points and 9.2 rebounds per contest. Seth Curry is questionable to play tonight as well with a back injury. He is averaging 10.2 points per game.
76ers lose two straight
Philly has dropped two straight as a favorite, losing to the Nets and the Heat this week. The 76ers had five straight wins prior to that. Philadelphia is 20-9 on the season, 14-1 at home, 12-14-3 against the spread and 15-13-1 with the under.
The 76ers are putting up 109.1 points per game on offense this year while shooting 47.3 percent from the field. NBA Betting Trends
Dallas
The Mavericks are 8-1-1 against the spread in their last 10 games as a road underdog and 12-3-2 ATS in their last 17 games following a loss.
Philadelphia
The 76ers are 3-1-2 against the spread in their last six home games and 0-2-2 ATS in their last four games as a favorite.
Prediction:
This is the first meeting between these two this season. Philly has been struggling this week, as teams have moved to a zone defense against them and are forcing them to shoot from the outside. Though they shoot 36 percent from the arc, the 76ers aren’t a great outside shooting team. I am not sure if Dallas has the players to execute the zone against Philly. Also, without Doncic, the Dallas offense is likely to slow. It scored just 103 at home against Boston. Philly can’t let this losing skid linger, and Embiid has been playing really well in recent games. I expect him to pick up the steam today and lead Philly to a lopsided victory tonight.
NBA Prediction: Philadelphia 76ers -8.5
