Report: Embiid re-broke same bone
PHILADELPHIA, PA (The Spread) – The news continues to get worse for the 76ers, who currently face the longest odds of any NBA team to win next year’s championship.
Earlier this month 76ers general manager Sam Hinkie said that the team expected Joel Embiid to miss the entire 2015-16 season after he undergoes bone graft surgery on his right foot. Now it’s being reported by the Philadelphia Inquirer & Daily News that Embiid re-broke the navicular bone in his right foot. There had been no indication that Embiid had re-broken the bone again until now.
There has been speculation that Embiid’s injuries could be career-threatening, although those rumors seem to be overblown considering he’s only 21. Either way, Embiid has another long road ahead in efforts to get healthy and contribute to a Philadelphia team that selected him with the third overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Sixers are 250/1 to win the 2016 NBA Championship. Along with the Hornets and Magic, those are the worst odds of all NBA teams to win next year’s title.
