Saturday NBA Free Pick
(The Spread) – After clinching the top seed in the Western Conference earlier this week, are the San Antonio Spurs going to be emotionally invested Saturday night as they host the Utah Jazz?
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Spurs 10.5-point favorites in the contest Saturday night. The over/under total for tonight’s game is 200 and the opening tip off is set for 8:30PM EST.
The Spurs come into play with an overall record of 60-19 and they are 35-5 in home games. According to latest NBA trends they’re an impressive 44-33 against the spread this season.
Utah, on the other hand, will miss the playoffs after a strong start to the season as it has faded badly over the past two-plus months. The Jazz are 37-42 overall and 17-22 on the road. Utah is 33-45 ATS this season.
NBA Free Pick: I am going to have to believe the Spurs, although as professional of a franchise as it gets, will want to rest some starters some here as both a reward for winning homecourt advantage throughout the Western Conference playoffs as well as just to get guys healthy before the playoffs start. Tim Duncan only played 25 minutes against the Kings, partly because of the blowout nature of the game and partly because his minutes have been limited all season. No one else played over 29 minutes for the Spurs, so they very might well be going into rest mode for the next couple of contests. San Antonio has not exactly been consistently stellar as of late anyways, while the Jazz have been a bit up and down as well. But Utah has shown recently that it is a team capable of competing with the best when it plays smart basketball as its win over the Los Angeles Lakers this past week shows. I am thinking the points are a bit much here, so I am taking the Jazz at +10.5.
SATURDAY NBA FREE PICK: UTAH JAZZ +10.5
