Warriors hit the road
Golden State is coming off a 121-114 win at home over the Pistons to wrap up a three-game homestand. The Warriors have won five of their last seven to put themselves atop the West, but they have failed to cover in their last two. Golden State is 50-23 on the season, 24-12 on the road, 30-42-1 against the spread and 39-34 with the under.
Not surprisingly, Golden State is one of the top offensive teams in the league. They are second in scoring at 117.3 points per game, while sitting first in shooting at 48.8 percent as a team. Defensively, the Warriors are giving up 111.7 points per game while holding opponents to 44.7 percent shooting. Stephen Curry is leading the team with 27.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while Kevin Durant is adding 26.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.7 assists per contest.
Grizzlies upset Thunder
Memphis is coming off a 115-103 win over Oklahoma City on Monday night, but they are just 2-4 in their last six. The Grizzlies are 30-44 on the season, 20-18 at home, 35-39 against the spread and 41-32-1 with the under.
The Grizzlies are one of the top defenses in the league, but the worst offense. Memphis averages just 102.8 points per game while shooting 45.1 percent as a unit. Defensively, Memphis holds opponents to 105.2 points per game while teams shoot 44.8 percent against them. Memphis has a litany of injuries right now. Seven are listed on the report, including leader Mike Conley. He is questionable with a thigh injury. Conley averages 20.9 points and 6.4 assists per game. Jonas Valanciunas adds 19.3 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Golden State
The Warriors are just 3-9-1 against the spread in their last 13 against Southwest Division opponents and 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 against losing teams.
Memphis
The Grizzlies are 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight conference games.
Prediction:
Despite their struggles at the betting window, Golden State has won and covered in both meetings with Memphis this season. With the Warriors still in a battle for first in the West, they can’t afford to have another letdown against a bad team. Memphis is beat up and can’t score. Regardless of how good their defense is, it’s not good enough to stop this Golden State offense. I think the Warriors find enough to cover in this matchup.
NBA Prediction: Golden State Warriors -11.5
