(The Spread) – If the 2011-12 NBA Season were to end today, LeBron James would have a stranglehold on the MVP Award according to oddsmakers.
LeBron is a massive 1/2 favorite to win the 2011-12 NBA Most Valuable Player Award, while Kobe Bryant has the next best odds at 9/2. Kevin Durant is also 6/1, while Chris Paul is 9/1 and Derrick Rose is 15/1.
The mid-range long shots include Dwyane Wade and Dwight Howard at 20/1, respectively, Jeremy Lin at 25/1 and Blake Griffin, Kevin Love and Tony Parker at 30/1, respectively. The current long shot is Mavericks’ star Dirk Nowitzki, who is 40/1 to win this year’s NBA MVP Award.

Bryant leads the league in points per game with an average of 28.4, while Durant is second with an average of 27.9 PPG and LeBron is third with 27.4 PPG. On the defensive side, Howard leads the NBA in rebounds per game at 15.3, while Love (who is fourth in the league with 24.5 points per game) is second in rebounds with an average of 13.8. Howard is also fourth in field goal percentage (.554) and fourth in blocked shots per game (2.20).
LeBron currently leads the first-place Heat in points per game (27.4), assists per game (6.8), and steals per game (1.8). According to oddsmakers, the Heat have the best odds to win the 2012 NBA Finals at +120, while the Thunder and Bulls have the next best odds at +500.
