Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Thunder are 6-point favorites to beat the Kings. The total, meanwhile, sits at 239.5 points and as of this writing, 52% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Kings to cover the point spread.
Sacramento Kings Fantasy Spin
De’Aaron Fox scored 18 points with three rebounds, eight assists, one block, three steals and two 3-pointers in 32 minutes against the Warriors on Thursday. The Kings were almost able to pull off a big road comeback with Fox finally having a good game after struggling in the previous two matchups against Stephen Curry. Fox has also looked better since he got the game off last month, averaging 15.9 points, 4.0 boards, 6.5 dimes, 1.5 steals and 1.0 treys. The lineup change with Bogdan Bogdanovic shouldn’t hurt Fox with Fox having a higher usage rate next to Bogdan while only a slight hit in dime rate, so his fantasy owners shouldn’t see their expectations change too much.
Oklahoma City Thunder Fantasy Spin
Paul George hit a high-arcing floater late in double-overtime to beat the Jazz on Friday, while totaling 45 points (17-of-31 FGs, 6-of-6 FTs) with nine rebounds, seven assists, five 3-pointers and one steal in 50 minutes. George scored 25 of his 45 points in the fourth quarter and the following overtime periods, leading the Thunder to a big home win. Russell Westbrook fouled out in the first OT, leaving PG to carry the load. Russ and PG became just the sixth pair of teammates to each score 40+ in the same game over the last 25 years. This may end up being a seminal moment in PG-13’s MVP candidacy.
NBA Betting Trends
Sacramento
The Kings are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
Oklahoma City
The Thunder is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games versus a team with a winning record.
Prediction
The Thunder blew a halftime lead to the Jazz last night, had to rally to force overtime, then rally to force double-overtime before finally winning by a point. Getting back up to that level could be difficult two nights in a row, so I see plenty of value in Sacramento as an underdog. The Kings are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games versus the Thunder and have covered the spread in six of their last seven trips to OKC.
