Public Betting Trends
According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook BetNow.eu, the Cavaliers are 2-point favorites to beat the Grizzlies. The total, meanwhile, sits at 202.5 points and as of this writing, 56% of the public betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Grizzlies to cover the point spread.
Memphis Grizzlies Fantasy Spin
Mike Conley scored a team-high 25 points in a 112-106 loss to the Clippers on Friday, adding 10 assists, three boards, one steal, two blocks and two triples in 36 minutes. Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace recently said that he wants the team to convey their top-8 protected draft pick to Boston by finishing the season strong, but that is going to be even tougher with Jaren Jackson Jr. (quad) out indefinitely. The Grizzlies have the 6th worst record in the NBA, so unless they start racking up wins they will start feeling some pressure to dial back Mike Conley’s workload like the Pelicans just started doing with Jrue Holiday.
Cleveland Cavaliers Fantasy Spin
Kevin Love double-doubled in 22 minutes during a 111-98 win over the Suns on Thursday, scoring 16 points with 11 rebounds, one assist, four turnovers and three 3-pointers. The Cavs have won their last two games with Love in the lineup — sure, it was against the Knicks and Suns. Love played just 16 minutes in his last game and six minutes in his return, so he’s clearly getting an uptick in run. He said he isn’t planning to miss games going forward, so Love could be back to his must-start ways with minutes in the upper 20s within the next week.
NBA Betting Trends
Memphis
The Grizzlies are just 4-13 against the spread in their last 17 road games and are 10-23 ATS in their last 33 games overall.
Cleveland
The Cavs have covered in five of their last seven home games but are just 2-7 against the number in their last nine games coming off a win.
Prediction
Neither team is trustworthy at the betting window so I’ll be avoiding the side. The total, however, looks to offer some value. The under is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams. The under is also 5-1 in the Grizzlies’ last six road games and is 17-7 in their last 24 games coming off a loss, while the under is 8-1 in the Cavs’ last nine games coming off a win of more than 10 points.
Saturday NBA Prediction: Grizzlies/Cavs under 202.5
