Miami limps into break
Miami was on a West Coast road trip prior to the All-Star Break and lost four of five games, including a 116-101 loss at Utah in its last game. The Heat are 35-19 on the season, 13-16 on the road, 29-23-2 against the spread and 31-22-1 with the over.
The Heat are putting up 111.7 points per game this season while shooting 46.8 percent from the field. Defensively, Miami is allowing 108.4 points per game while holding opponents to 44.5 percent shooting. The Heat remain without Tyler Herro due to an ankle injury. Jimmy Butler is leading the team with 20.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 6.1 assists per contest. Bam Adebayo is adding 15.8 points, 10.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.
Hawks can’t get on track
Atlanta has struggled to find much consistency when it comes to winning this season. The Hawks suffered losses at Orlando and Cleveland prior to the break. Atlanta is 15-41 on the season, 9-17 at home, 25-30-1 against the spread and 33-23 with the over.
The Hawks are putting up 110.2 points per game on offense this season while shooting 44.7 percent from the field. Defensively, Atlanta is allowing 118.9 points per game while opponents shoot 47.7 percent from the floor. De’Andre Hunter is questionable for the game due to an ankle injury and Clint Capela is out with a heel issue. Trae Young is leading the team with 29.7 points, 9.2 assists and 4.4 rebounds per game. John Collins is adding 20.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Miami
The Heat are 9-1-1 against the spread in their last 11 Thursday games, but just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games as a road favorite.
Atlanta
The Hawks are 4-1-1 against the spread in their last six home games and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven games as a home underdog.
Prediction:
The Heat have won and covered in all three meetings with the Hawks this season, but the last game did go to OT. The Heat are coming back from a West Coast road trip, so I think the All-Star Break should have energized them. Atlanta has a great player in the Young, but they don’t have much of a supporting cast right now, or any real incentive to win games at this juncture. I think Miami will come out and play well and cover this spread on the road.
NBA Prediction: Miami Heat -6
