Orlando fires Jacque Vaughn
ORLANDO, FL (TheSpread) – The Orlando Magic weren’t having much success under coach Jacque Vaughn, so they decided to part ways with him on Wednesday.
Vaughn had spent the last three seasons with Orlando, going 20-62 in his first year and 23-59 last season. The Magic were just 15-37 after their first 52 games this season, and management decided that was just not good enough. Vaughn was a former player for the Magic, playing for the team in the 2002-03 season when he averaged 6.6 points per game.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Magic currently have 2,000/1 odds to win the NBA Finals this season. They join the Denver Nuggets with the longest odds in all of the NBA. Golden State is the current favorite with 3/1 odds, while the Cleveland Cavaliers have 7/2 odds.
The Magic currently have the third-worst record in the Eastern Conference. They are three games ahead of Philadelphia and 3.5 games ahead of New York. The Magic are currently 7.5 games behind Miami for the eighth seed in the East. Orlando is riding a 10-game losing streak right now and they are allowing the second-most points in the Eastern Conference at 102.3 points per game.
