Howard could be out a month
HOUSTON, TX (TheSpread) – The Houston Rockets fear they could be without center Dwight Howard for at least a month due to an injury to his right knee. How does this impact their title hopes?
According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Rockets are worried that Howard will miss “weeks” of action as opposed to days due to persistent problems with his right knee. They are confident he will be back for the stretch run of the season, but uncertain just how long he could be out.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, the Rockets currently have 18/1 odds to win the 2015 NBA Championship. The Golden State Warriors are the favorites with 7/2 odds, while the Cleveland Cavaliers have 15/4 odds and the Hawks and Bulls each have 7/1 odds.
Houston is currently 33-15 on the season, 5.5 games outside of the top seed in the Western Conference. Right now, Houston is in the fifth spot, 1.5 games ahead of Dallas in the sixth position. Houston is just 2.5 games behind Memphis for the lead in the Southwest Division. The Rockets are also 27-21 against the spread on the season.
