Mavericks fall at home
Dallas had a surprising 133-104 loss at home to the Suns on Tuesday. The Mavs have lost three of their last five games. Dallas is now 29-18 on the season, 16-6 on the road, 24-20-3 against the spread and 28-19 with the over.
The Mavericks have one of the strongest offenses in the league this season, averaging 116.1 points per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field. Defensively, Dallas is allowing 110 points per game while opponents shoot 45.2 percent from the field. The Mavericks lost leader Luka Doncic indefinitely to another ankle injury. Along with that, Tim Hardaway Jr. is questionable with a back injury. Doncic is leading the team 28.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.7 assists per game. Hardaway Jr. is adding 14.1 points per contest. Kristaps Porzingis is adding 16.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per contest.
Rockets end road trip
Houston just wrapped up a four-game road trip on Wednesday with a 125-112 loss at Portland. The Rockets went 2-2 on the road trip. Houston is now 29-18 on the season, 15-7 at home, 22-25 against the spread and 26-21 with the under.
The Rockets are putting up 118.5 points per game while shooting 45.4 percent from the floor. Defensively, Houston is giving up 114.6 points per game while opponents shoot 45.9 percent against them. James Harden is leading the team with 35.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. Russell Westbrook is adding 26.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.4 assists per contest.
NBA Betting Trends
Dallas
The Mavericks are 19-5-3 against the spread in their last 27 road games and 17-6-3 ATS in their last 26 games following a loss.
Houston
The Rockets are 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games as a favorite, but 5-0 ATS in their last five Friday games.
Prediction:
These two haven’t met up since November when the Mavericks picked up a 137-123 win on the road. Dallas didn’t actually play too poorly without Doncic before, but the Mavs will need a lot of points to win this game. Houston scores at a high pace, especially with both Harden and Westbrook on the floor. The Rockets tend to have some letdown performances, but I think they will look strong at home after a notable loss at Portland on Wednesday.
NBA Prediction: Houston Rockets -8.5
