Ben Simmons narrowly missed his third triple-double of the season, tallying 11 points, 16 rebounds, nine assists and a block in Saturday’s loss. Simmons said after the game, “Overall, I feel solid,” in regards to his recent left knee issues. And he filled up the box score as usual, but on a night where Joel Embiid was absent, he shot just 3-of-9 from the field and air balled a wide open three down seven points with less than four minutes left in the game (video below). His scoring has dropped from 16.4 in 2020 to 12.4 this season, and we know he’s a great defender, but his inability to shoot the ball is a tragedy for Sixers fans and fantasy managers alike. Philly really missed out on not getting James Harden.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander erupted for a career-high 33 points in an overtime win on Friday, making 13-of-19 shots with 10 assists, five rebounds and one steal in 44 minutes of action. Chicago’s defense had no answer for SGA, who fueled a furious comeback from 16 down with five minutes left in regulation. He’s still not getting to the line a ton (4-of-4 tonight), but 9-cat managers appreciate his efficiency — he’s shooting 50.5% in January while averaging only 2.0 turnovers per game. He’s flirted with triple-doubles a few times this season, and tonight’s massive effort is a reminder why you drafted him in the early rounds — he’s a healthy 22-year-old with elite talent and the keys to a rebuilding team’s offense. This is just the start.
