CAR--INDYCAR-KANAAN'S WILD RIDE
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Tony Kanaan spent the offseason pitching himself to prospective sponsors: 15 open-wheel wins, an IndyCar Series championship, a steady eight-year run among the top six drivers in the standings. And no job. Kanaan didn't officially land a ride with KV Racing Technology until the week of the season opener at St. Petersburg, but the affable Brazilian is still holding down a spot close to the front. He's behind only Will Power and Dario Franchitti in the points standings. By John Zenor.

CAR--F1-CHINESE GP
SHANGHAI - Sebastian Vettel will attempt to become the first driver in seven years to start the Formula One season with three straight wins as the racing series moves to the Chinese Grand Prix this weekend. The Red Bull driver won back-to-back races from the pole position in Australia and Malaysia to start the year, although his margin of victory was slimmer last weekend in Sepang than it was in Melbourne. The last driver to win three straight races to open the season was Michael Schumacher in 2004. By Chris Lines.
