LAS VEGAS (AP) – Carl Edwards had a superb 2011 season, just missing out on his first Sprint Cup title.
But in the process of piling up those points, he only had one Sprint Cup win – last March at Las Vegas.
Edwards did win the Sprint All-Star Race in May to earn $1 million, but the race doesn’t count in the season standings.
He tied for the Sprint Cup championship, losing on a tiebreaker because of Tony Stewart’s five wins.
Edwards was eighth at the Daytona 500 to open this season and drifted back to 17th last week in Phoenix after running out of fuel at the end of the race. He enters Sunday’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway 10th in the Sprint Cup standings.
