FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) – Denny Hamlin expects his left knee to be “aching for a while” since he never wants to slow down.
It has been 11 months since Hamlin had surgery to repair the torn ACL in his knee. Yet, it is still bothering him at times. That was evident Wednesday during media day at Texas Motor Speedway, where he won both NASCAR Sprint Cup races last year.
Hamlin got hurt playing basketball before the 2010 season, then had surgery March 31, two days after winning at Martinsville. He got the first of his two Texas wins less than three weeks after surgery.
Hamlin says he’s never let the knee heal all the way. He was playing pickup basketball within six or seven months after surgery.
