DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Kurt Busch has won his second race of Speedweeks by holding off Regan Smith on the last lap to win the first Daytona 500 qualifying race. Busch used a big push from Smith to move into the lead after a caution set up a two-lap sprint to the finish of Thursday's 150-mile race. Smith then stayed in line behind Busch as they circled Daytona International Speedway, trying to set up a pass for the win. Busch blocked the move as they closed in on the checkered flag. The victory is the second for Busch in less than a week. He also won the exhibition Budweiser Shootout. The finishing order of Thursday's two qualifying races are used to set the field for the season-opening Daytona 500. |
