PHILADELPHIA (AP) -Scott Proefrock was hired Monday as assistant general manager of the World Series champion Philadelphia Phillies.
Proefrock spent the last three seasons as director of baseball administration for Baltimore following 11 years with Tampa Bay. He joins Benny Looper and Chuck LaMar as assistant GMs under Ruben Amaro Jr., the team’s new general manager.
Proefrock served as director of baseball administration with the Rays from 1995-96 and assistant GM from 1997-2005. He also worked in scouting and player development for Pittsburgh (1989-90) and Atlanta (1991-95). He assisted under LaMar with the Pirates, Braves and Rays.
The Phillies have been restructuring their front office following the retirement of GM Pat Gillick.
