 HOUSTON (AP) -The Houston Astros hired Ed Romero as their third base coach on Wednesday.
Romero spent the past three seasons as the roving infield coordinator for the Florida Marlins. Before that, he was a minor league manager and instructor with the Milwaukee Brewers organization for eight years.
His 16-year coaching career also featured six seasons with the San Diego Padres and seven seasons as manager in the Puerto Rican Winter League.
Romero played for Milwaukee, Boston, Atlanta and Detroit from 1977-1990.
