OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -Oakland Athletics All-Star right-hander Justin Duchscherer might be done for the season.
Duchscherer threw 10 pitches in a simulated game Thursday before spiking the ball to the ground in frustration after feeling pain in his strained right hip.
He has been on the disabled list since Aug. 19 with the injury, his second DL stint of the year after he missed time in April with a strained right biceps muscle. Duchscherer had hip surgery in July 2007.
The A’s had tentatively slated Duchscherer to start Saturday in the middle game of a weekend series with the Seattle Mariners, but manager Bob Geren said he won’t pitch and is doubtful for the remainder of 2008.
The 30-year-old Duchscherer, in his first season as a full-time starter, is 10-8 this year with a 2.54 ERA in 22 starts with one complete game in 141 2-3 innings. He was selected to his second AL All-Star team.
