BALTIMORE (AP) -The Baltimore Orioles activated utility player Freddie Bynum from the 15-day disabled list Monday and optioned infielder Brandon Fahey to Triple-A Norfolk.
Bynum went on the disabled list on July 7 with a strained left hamstring. His recovery was slowed earlier this month when he was spiked in the left hand during the third game of his rehab assignment.
He’s batting .277 with two homers and eight RBIs in 48 games.
Fahey was hitting .231 in 23 games with Baltimore.
“I’d like Fahey to go play a little bit,” Orioles manager Dave Trembley said. “I’d like Fahey to move around a little bit. He hasn’t played a whole lot here. He’s going to play shortstop, second base and one game a week in the outfield.”
