BOSTON (AP) -Try these leads on for size: 10-0, 8-0, 9-0. The Boston Red Sox think they fit just great – to the Texas Rangers, it’s more like uh-oh.
David Ortiz was at the center of another big inning for Boston on Thursday night, hitting a three-run homer in a nine-run second inning as the Red Sox bolted out to a 9-0 lead over Texas.
The sizable advantage came after Boston led 8-0 after five innings in Wednesday’s 8-4 win over the Rangers and two days after Ortiz hit two three-run homers to help the Red Sox score 10 runs in the first inning of a victory against Texas.
Texas starter Tommy Hunter, making his third career start, was charged with all nine runs Thursday night.
Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis and Jed Lowrie each had doubles in the inning, with Lowrie and Pedroia driving in a run.
