 BALTIMORE (AP) -Josh Beckett came within one out of a shutout and became the first major leaguer to reach 15 wins, and Julio Lugo and J.D. Drew had two RBIs apiece to help the Boston Red Sox beat the Baltimore Orioles 6-2 Saturday.
Beckett (15-5) allowed eight hits, struck out eight and walked none in 8 2-3 innings. He was lifted after Miguel Tejada hit a run-scoring single and Kevin Millar followed with an RBI double.
Manny Delcarmen walked Aubrey Huff before Jonathan Papelbon retired Melvin Mora with two on for his 27th save in 29 chances. Baltimore is the only team in the majors that has not been blanked this season.
Drew had three hits and Dustin Pedroia was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Red Sox, who went 3-for-17 with runners in scoring position. Pedroia is 18-for-38 (.474) in his last 10 games.
Baltimore's Garrett Olson (1-1) gave up eight hits and four runs over 6 1-3 innings in his third big league start. He walked six and struck out six.
