HOUSTON (AP) -The Chicago Cubs put outfielder Angel Pagan on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday and recalled outfielder Felix Pie from Triple-A Iowa.
Manager Lou Piniella said Pagan has colitis, a digestive disease. Pagan traveled back to Chicago for treatment.
“He’s had this for a while, and it’s been treated with medication,” Piniella said. “The prescription is basically for bed rest for about a week.”
Pagan was batting .264 with four homers and 21 RBIs in 71 games.
Pie is getting recalled for the third time this season. He’s hit .216 with two home runs, 19 runs scored and 18 RBIs in 48 games with the Cubs this season.
