ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) - The Tampa Bay Rays have recalled right-hander Jeremy Hellickson from Single-A Charlotte and designated reliever Juan Carlos Oviedo for assignment.
The moves were announced Saturday.
Hellickson, coming back from right elbow surgery in January, was brought back to make his second big league start of the season Saturday night against Boston. He was optioned to the minors on July 13 to stay on a regular schedule when the Rays needed just four starters due to a number of off days.
Oviedo went 3-3 with a 3.69 ERA in 32 games.
