MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -The Texas Rangers activated Vicente Padilla off the disabled list to start against the Twins on Sunday, clearing roster room by optioning infielder German Duran to Triple-A Oklahoma.
Padilla, 10-5 with a 4.70 ERA, had been on the 15-day DL with a stiff neck.
Duran was hitting .225 with three home runs in 102 at-bats with the Rangers this season.
The rookie was called up from the minors on April 17. He was sent back down May 29 and was called up again 10 days later.
“Last time we sent him down he came back a lot better,” manager Ron Washington said. “I think the next time we call him up, it’ll be for good.”
