MIAMI (AP) -Philadelphia Phillies right fielder Geoff Jenkins bruised his shoulder Sunday when he was hit by the barrel of his broken bat.
Jenkins’ bat broke on contact, and the left-handed hitter was struck in the right side near his neck. He fell to the ground as his grounder was scooped up by Florida second baseman Dan Uggla to start an inning-ending double play.
Jenkins quickly rose, left the field accompanied by a trainer and came out of the game.
