PHILADELPHIA (AP) -The St. Louis Cardinals placed Scott Spiezio on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with an infected left index finger and recalled infielder Brendan Ryan from Triple-A Memphis.
Spiezio was hospitalized at the end of June because of the infection. The utilityman was hitting .281 with three home runs and 27 RBIs.
Ryan batted .268 with two homers and five RBIs in 41 at-bats with St. Louis earlier this season.
