WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -The manager of a minor league baseball team in Kansas is under a four-game suspension for an on-field tirade with the home-plate umpire over a called strike.
Wichita Wingnuts manager Kash Beauchamp (BEE’-chum) was ejected in the second inning of Wednesday’s doubleheader nightcap for arguing with umpire Blake Felix. After Beauchamp left the field, the Wingnuts went on to beat Sioux Falls 5-2 in the American Association game.
Beauchamp will be eligible to return to the field Tuesday, when the Wingnuts open a three-game series in Fort Worth. He also fined an undisclosed amount.
In his outburst, Beauchamp yelled nose-to-nose at Felix, kicked dirt, removed his shoes and slammed them to the ground and made a gesture with his armpit toward the umpire’s face.
