KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -Jose Guillen, who leads the Kansas City Royals with 13 home runs, 29 doubles and 65 RBIs, was a late scratch from Friday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners because of a stiff neck.
Designated hitter Billy Butler, who was originally slated to bat seventh, replaced Guillen as the cleanup hitter. Joey Gathright, who was not in the original lineup, replaced Guillen in the outfield and batted ninth.
Guillen played for the Mariners last season, hitting .290 with 23 homers and 99 RBIs.
