WASHINGTON (AP) -First baseman Dmitri Young left the Washington Nationals’ game against the Houston Astros on Friday night in the third inning with tightness in his lower back.
With an 0-1 count against Astros reliever Chad Paranto, Young walked to the Nationals dugout and conferred with manager Manny Acta. Pete Orr replaced Young and fouled out to the catcher.
Young, who was hitting .280 with four home runs and 10 RBIs in 49 games, was on the 15-day disabled list from April 3 to May 16 with a lower back sprain.
Ronnie Belliard, who started at third base, replaced Young at first and Orr took over at third.
