NEW YORK (AP) -Yankees manager Joe Girardi was ejected for arguing a called strike during Sunday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox.
Catcher Jose Molina was upset he was called out on strikes by plate umpire Laz Diaz leading off the bottom of the sixth inning, and Girardi came out to argue after a called strike on the third pitch to the next batter, rookie Brett Gardner.
It was Girardi’s fourth career ejection, his third as a manager. He was ejected one other time this year, on May 22 against Baltimore.
Gardner singled on the next pitch.
