DENVER (AP) -The Florida Marlins recalled reliever Taylor Tankersley from Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday, a day after Eulogio De La Cruz was sent down.
“He’s a luxury,” Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez said of Tankersley. “He gives us that additional left-hander out of the bullpen.”
Tankersley, 25, was with the Marlins earlier this season before being sent down to Albuquerque on June 3. In 23 appearances with Florida this year he is 0-1 with a 7.16 ERA. With the Isotopes, Tankersley is 0-1 with a 1.98 ERA in 12 games.
De La Cruz was 0-0 with a 16.26 ERA in three appearances with the Marlins.
The 24-year-old began the season in Triple-A, then was recalled on May 25 to make an emergency start. After giving up two earned runs in three innings in an 8-6 victory over San Francisco, De La Cruz was sent back to Albuquerque. He was brought up again on June 25.
