OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -Oakland recalled right-hander Shane Komine from Triple-A Sacramento before the Athletics' game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.
Komine, who was scheduled to start for the RiverCats, was with the A's for a few days in June but did not make an appearance. He made two starts for the A's last year.
``We need pitching,'' A's manager Bob Geren said of the move. Geren also indicated Komine would assume the long relief role.
To make room for Komine, the A's optioned left-hander Ron Flores to Sacramento. Flores pitched 2 1-3 innings of relief during Monday night's 11-7 loss to the Blue Jays.
Esteban Loaiza (spasms in right trapezius).
Komine is 3-9 with a 5.38 ERA in 16 starts with the RiverCats.
Flores was 0-2 with a 3.57 ERA in 17 relief appearances.
