 CHICAGO (AP) -The Chicago Cubs put closer Ryan Dempster on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left oblique muscle, and transferred Wade Miller to the 60-day disabled list.
Dempster's move was retroactive to June 23. He is 1-3 with a 3.38 ERA and 16 saves. Miller went on the DL on April 23 with back spasms after his third start. He is 0-1 with a 10.54 ERA.
The Cubs called up right-hander Billy Petrick from Double-A Tennessee. He is 1-2 with two saves and a 2.57 ERA in 24 minor-league games this season.
