ST. LOUIS (AP) -Detroit manager Jim Leyland won’t talk about the Tigers’ pitching plans without struggling Dontrelle Willis on Wednesday.
A day earlier Leyland announced that Willis would not make his next scheduled start on Saturday against the Brewers. He still has not revealed who would replace Willis, 1-4 with a 7.49 ERA in seven starts.
“There’ll be no further talk about the rotation until probably Saturday,” Leyland said. “Dontrelle’s obviously not going to start, but that’s the end of the conversation.”
Willis walked eight in 3 2-3 innings in a loss at Pittsburgh on Sunday and has walked 18 in 11 innings over his last three starts.
