CINCINNATI (AP) -Manny Ramirez was out of Boston’s lineup for a second straight game Sunday with soreness in a right hamstring that has bothered him the last few weeks.
Ramirez came out of Friday night’s game against the Cincinnati Reds because of the hamstring. He was out of the lineup on Saturday, but pinch-hit and struck out in a 6-4, 10-inning victory.
The outfielder had made his last 10 starts as a designated hitter to protect the hamstring. Boston can’t use the DH while playing in a National League ballpark this weekend.
The Red Sox also are missing David Ortiz, who is in Boston recovering from a wrist injury. Boston is 1-1 when both stars have been out of the lineup this season.
