CLEVELAND (AP) -The Seattle Mariners placed right-hander Chris Reitsma on the 15-day disabled list due to inflammation in his elbow and recalled left-hander Jake Woods from Triple-A Tacoma before Monday night's game against Cleveland.
This is Reitsma's second trip to the DL because of his elbow this season. He made two appearances since he was activated June 4, allowing four runs and three hits in two innings. Reitsma threw a perfect inning in Sunday's 4-3 win over San Diego.
``His elbow didn't respond well,'' Mariners manager Mike Hargrove said. ``He had a lot of fluid in the elbow and a lot of pain after the game.''
Reitsma is 0-1 with a 5.79 ERA in 18 appearances.
Woods made two relief appearances for the Mariners earlier this season and has a 5.87 ERA. He was optioned to Tacoma on April 19 where he had a 7.41 ERA in nine starts and one relief appearance.
