WASHINGTON (AP) -Washington Nationals starter Odalis Perez, who left Tuesday’s start against the St. Louis Cardinals after three innings, will miss his next scheduled start.
Perez, who was the losing pitcher in Washington’s 6-1 loss to St. Louis, is suffering from tendenitis in his left shoulder. Nationals manager Manny Acta said that the left-hander came to him and asked to be removed after three innings.
“He’s going to miss his next start,” Acta said. “He just complained. He said that it was bothering him.”
Perez, who has a 2-5 record and a 4.09 ERA, said he doesn’t plan on going on the disabled list. His shoulder has been bothering him for his last several starts, he said.
“It’s like something burning in the arm,” Perez said. “I don’t think it will be a big, big issue.”
“I’m going to miss one (start), and we’ll see where we go from there.”
Acta said that he doesn’t know who will take Perez’ place in the rotation. His next scheduled start would be Sunday.
