A look at what’s happening all around the major leagues Wednesday:

TANAKA RETURNS
Yankees ace Masahiro Tanaka starts at Seattle in his first outing since April 23. He’s been out because of tendinitis in his right wrist and a strained right forearm. The Japanese All-Star made a pair of Triple-A rehab starts, and will have a pitch count of about 80 vs. the Mariners.
WASHINGTON INSIDERS
The San Francisco Giants host Pittsburgh in the afternoon, then pack up and head for Washington – not to play the Nationals, but to see President Barack Obama. The World Series champs will visit the White House during Thursday’s off-day before opening a weekend series in Philadelphia.
A HALF-DOZEN HURLERS
The Mets’ experiment with a six-man rotation begins when Dillon Gee comes off the disabled list and throws at San Diego. He’ll join Matt Harvey, rookie Noah Syndergaard, Jacob deGrom, Bartolo Colon and Jonathon Niese as starters on the New York staff. The team is hoping to limit the number of innings for their young pitchers.
SEEING RED
Phillies lefty Cole Hamels has dominated the Reds during his career, going 9-0 with a 1.51 ERA in 12 starts against them. Hamels aims to post another win when Cincinnati is at Citizens Bank Park.
PEDROIA POP
Boston star Dustin Pedroia tries to keep up his career success against Phil Hughes in the opener of a day-night doubleheader at Fenway Park. Pedroia has hit five home runs off the Minnesota righty, going 13 for 38 overall (.342) with three doubles and 14 RBIs.
STRAS SUB
With Stephen Strasburg on the disabled list, Taylor Jordan could start for the Nationals against Toronto. The 26-year-old righty is 1-7 over parts of three seasons with Washington. Strasburg is out because of a strained muscle on the left side of his upper back.
