BALTIMORE (AP) -Boston Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz missed a second straight game Monday after undergoing an MRI on his ailing left wrist.
Ortiz sprained his wrist while swinging at a pitch Saturday night in a game against the Baltimore Orioles. He missed Sunday’s game, then left the team for Boston, where he underwent an MRI on Monday.
The result of the examination was not immediately available.
“The doctor and the club are still evaluating a course of action,” said John Blake, vice president of media relations.
Ortiz is batting .252 and leads the Red Sox with 13 homers and 43 RBIs.
Manny Ramirez replaced Ortiz as Boston’s designated hitter on Sunday and Monday. The Red Sox host Tampa Bay on Tuesday at Fenway Park.
