CLEVELAND (AP) -Right-hander Tomo Ohka was recalled by the Cleveland Indians on Thursday and left-hander Zach Jackson was optioned to Triple-A Columbus.
Ohka spent parts of nine seasons in the major leagues with Boston, Montreal, Washington, Milwaukee, Arizona and Toronto, compiling a 50-63 record and a 4.14 ERA. His last major league appearance was June 6, 2007 with the Blue Jays. He spent all of last season with the Chicago White Sox Triple-A affiliate.
Ohka is 3-3 with a 3.42 ERA in nine starts this season at Triple-A Columbus, but he will work out of the bullpen for the Indians.
To make room for Ohka on the 40-man roster, right-hander Anthony Reyes was transferred from the 15-day to the 60-day disabled list. He has an inflamed right elbow.
