NEW YORK (AP) -Seattle manager John McLaren was ejected from Friday night’s game against the New York Yankees after arguing a called third strike against Ichiro Suzuki in the second inning.
Seattle was ahead 1-0 and had two on with two outs when Suzuki was called out on a 3-2 pitch from Andy Pettitte. Suzuki argued with plate umpire Mike DiMuro, and McLaren came out to join. The manager kept on arguing after Suzuki left and, after McLaren was ejected, he moved up the first-base line, jabbing an arm at the umpire as the dispute continued.
As McLaren left the field, he also argued with crew chief Tim McClelland, who was umpiring at third base.
It was the third ejection of the season for McLaren.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi missed the game, serving a one-game suspension stemming from an argument Thursday in which he kicked his hat and dirt went on an umpire.
