MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -Another problem for Minnesota’s unstable middle infield has popped up.
Shortstop Adam Everett was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a strained right shoulder. Everett’s pain, manager Ron Gardenhire said, is in a different place than the previous shoulder injury that sent him to the DL last month.
The Twins announced infielder Matt Macri will be recalled from Triple-A Rochester on Friday, but Gardenhire spoke less than confidently before Thursday’s game about the majors-ready options in the farm system.
Brendan Harris, the original second baseman, has been playing more at shortstop, his natural position. Nick Punto (hamstring) and Matt Tolbert (thumb) are already on the DL, leaving the Twins awfully short in the infield. Punto could be back in a week, but Tolbert will likely miss two months or more.
