ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -Scott Kazmir will stay in the Tampa Bay Rays’ rotation despite recent struggles and make his next scheduled start Monday at Cleveland.
Rays manager Joe Maddon, before Thursday’s game against Oakland, said the team will continue working with the left-hander between his starts.
“We’re just evaluating everything right now,” Maddon said. “Our main concern is to get him right.”
Kazmir gave up seven runs and eight hits in 4 1-3 innings of Wednesday night’s 7-6 loss to Oakland. Over his last five starts, he has given up 31 runs – 29 earned – in 23 innings.
