BOSTON (AP) -Kevin Youkilis is back with the Boston Red Sox after a stint on the disabled list.
The first baseman returned to the starting lineup Wednesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays after two rehabilitation appearances at Triple-A Pawtucket where he went 0-for-6 with a walk.
Youkilis was batting .393 with six homers and 20 RBIs when he went on the disabled list on May 12, retroactive to May 5, with a strained left side muscle.
The Red Sox optioned infielder Gil Velazquez to Pawtucket. Since being recalled on May 12, he played in one game at shortstop and was hit by a pitch in his only plate appearance.
