TORONTO (AP) -Los Angeles Angels shortstop Erick Aybar left Tuesday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays in the first inning after injuring his right hand while fielding a ground ball.
Aybar dove to his left to snare Alex Rios’ grounder and appeared to injure his finger as he spun around to make the throw to first. He came up clutching his fingers and wincing in pain.
Robb Quinlan came on to play third base with Macier Izturis moving from third to shortstop.
Aybar is batting .270 with one home run and 16 RBIs in 43 games this season.
Angels infielders Chone Figgins (right hamstring) and Howie Kendrick (left hamstring) are already on the disabled list, although Figgins could be activated as early as Wednesday.
