CHICAGO (AP) -The Chicago White Sox activated outfielder Brian Anderson from the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday and optioned infielder Brent Lillibridge to Triple-A Charlotte.
Anderson was placed on the disabled list May 1 with a strained oblique muscle. Prior to the injury, he was hitting .288 with four RBIs in 18 games.
Lillibridge struggled with the White Sox, hitting .162 in 26 games. He was acquired in the offseason as part of a six-player deal that was highlighted by Javier Vazquez going to Atlanta.
“If this kid keeps swinging the bat like that, he is going to be in Triple-A for a long time,” said White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. “We need him, we want him, that’s the reason we made the trade. We liked this kid the last two years, but when you continue to play a big man game when you are only 5-foot-11 and 120 pounds … That’s not the game you should be playing. And we talked to him. He has to use his legs, he has to play baseball. When you have warning-track power, you’re going to be minor league to Mexican league to Korean league.”
s out of the lineup Tuesday with a foot injury will also likely be out of Wednesday’s lineup, but did say he is available to pinch hit.
