LOS ANGELES (AP) -Dodgers left-hander Eric Stults has been scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday night against the New York Mets because of a sore thumb on his pitching hand.
Jeff Weaver will start for Los Angeles instead in the finale of a three-game series.
Stults jammed his thumb on a hard landing after fielding a bunt and making an off-balance flip to first base Friday at Florida. He is 4-1 with a 3.82 ERA since being promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque on April 11 to replace injured opening-day starter Hiroki Kuroda.
This will be Weaver’s third start since returning to the Dodgers. The right-hander had been used in long relief for two appearances after the team promoted veteran Eric Milton from Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday.
