ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -Rangers closer Frank Francisco threw a bullpen session Monday and is scheduled to throw a simulated game Wednesday in Detroit.
Francisco, who hasn’t appeared in a game since May 6, went on the disabled list Saturday with right biceps tendinitis. He is eligible to come off the DL on Friday when the Rangers play in Houston.
The right-hander also threw a bullpen session Saturday without any problems.
All-Star center fielder Josh Hamilton, who came out of Sunday’s game after slamming into the wall while making a catch, was listed as day to day with a mild right groin strain.
Hamilton was just activated from the disabled list last Tuesday after missing 13 games with a rib injury sustained when he ran into an outfield wall in Toronto.
Reliever Willie Eyre, who has been on the DL since April 23 with a strained right groin, is scheduled throw a bullpen session Tuesday at Double-A Frisco.
Dustin Nippert will start a throwing program this week. The reliever hasn’t pitched this season and is on the 60-day DL because of a back problem.
