ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -Los Angeles Angels starter John Lackey will return to the mound on Monday night following an early exit from his season debut, when he was ejected after throwing two pitches at Rangers leadoff man Ian Kinsler.
Angels manager Mike Scioscia said after Sunday’s series finale against the Rangers that Lackey will get the call Monday night in the opener of a four-game road series against Seattle.
Scioscia said the other members of his rotation will get pushed back a day, with 30-year-old rookie right-hander Matt Palmer moving to Tuesday night, right-hander Ervin Santana to Wednesday night and lefty Joe Saunders to Thursday.
On Saturday, Lackey’s first pitch sailed behind Kinsler’s head. The next offering hit Kinsler in the ribs, and plate umpire Bob Davidson immediately ejected the right-hander, much to the surprise of Lackey, manager Mike Scioscia and the rest of the Angels.
